I enjoy herbs. They can be used for many different purposes. Natural things that come from the earth give us balance and good health.
It is a family trait, my sister Vickie and I talk about it a lot. We both have a green thumb. I have always loved the smell of sage and the green color. There are many different varieties available. You don't have to just use it for stuffing. It is good on fish, salads, and even sage tea is good. I have been wanting to grow some of my own herbs.

Drivers Use Your Car For Something Other Than A Battering Ram
My friends brother got hit by a car today. Amber has been a friend of mine since we were both In 8th grade and her entire family is awesome. Gary was crossing the street, in a cross walk, and this car hit him. I don’t understand how people can drive so carelessly. I am a driver, I keep my eyes on the road and everything that is around me. You never know what is going to come before you, especially when you come to a cross walk and you are stopped at a light. Your vehicle is a dangerous weapon, it isn’t only used for transportation and hauling you and the kids around everywhere, it is also deadly and dangerous. I wish that people would have enough sense to be thoughtful and considerate and not be in a hurry to get to their destination, that they forget common curtsey of others around them. Get off the phone, stop putting makeup on in the mirror while driving, stop faxing, texting, and engaging in other things besides paying attention to what you are maneuvering around. There are others in this world besides you. I’m just frustrated by the lack of consideration. Please, I am asking everyone, be more aware of things around you, especially when you are driving. And remember the rule in all hand books, pedestrians have the right of way.

Movie Marathon
I borrowed some movies from my friend Monte and so the last three nights, I’ve been having a movie marathon. The first movie I watched, “Cruel Intentions” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, and Ryan Phillippe. Monte recommended this movie. I see why he liked it. It is intriguing, it is a different type of love story, and though the end was sad, it was well worth the watch.
“Final Destination” starring Devon Sawa and Ali Larter is a thriller. The whole movie was a jaw dropping, make you think, and makes you question so many things about your own mortality.
“Final Destination 2” is just as good as the first one.
“The Dark Crystal” a Jim Henson production, the creator of the Muppets brought back some memories for me tonight. It is simple, but it has a lot of heart and soul in it.

Horribly...the plane crashes on a small island and you have no clue where you are...you look on the plane to see if anyone survived and your 5 five friends survived! sadly...none of the other passengers or the pilot made it. you manage to pull out 5 of your items...everything else is ruined...what did you get?

sadly...you miss it again....OMG...there is a very hungry animal behind you....which one of your friends would be the first one to help get rid of it so it doesn't hurt you? Vickie

You see a cruise in the distance and it's coming toward the island...what are you feeling? Excited.
You watch as the cruise goes to the other side of the island...after taking a minute to wonder..you follow it... as the day is going on you see a lot of lights in the distance...as you run toward them you see a building...you find that this is a hotel and that the island you are on is a tourist attraction...after being there a week and almost starving...what are you feeling? dumb
so you go home on the cruise and everyone thinks you guys are so funny because shelter was so close to you...who is the first person you want to see when you get home? why? My family
when you get home what is the first thing you wanna do? Eat, drink and be merry.

April Is For Autism
This banner was created by Precious Jewel GraphicsThis month is autism awareness month. The reason I am bringing this up, is because my dear, sweet friend Amber. Her little boy Cullen has autism, I am not positive what form. He isn’t as bad as some, but it still affects him and her family. There are many different names for autism, but they are all linked. There is Asperger Syndrome, PDD NOS, Autism, Rett Syndrome, and Childhood Disintrigrative Disorder, Cullen has one of them. He is getting the help he needs, and he is still a bright loving boy, despite his disability. Just because he has a disability, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the same care and respect that so many other children need. There is a medical news site that provides some good information. There is also a myspace page called autimoms where you can also get a ton of information. We all need to be aware, compassionate, patient, and loving towards everyone with a disability, that they cannot help but to have. It doesn't mean they are dumb, incapable, or any of the phobias that people who have never dealt with people with disabilities or who don't suffer from one do not understand. Families who have children deserve our patient, love, understanding, and compassion, and not to be chastise, condemned, or ridicule because of it. If anything, I'd wish for more understanding and empathy for everyone involved. They are capable of many things and they also don't need to be put aside or pushed away either. Maybe, because I have seen many of my family members, though they do not suffer from autism, they do have blindness, and other disabilities that they were born and can't help to have. They are strong independent women and men. My mom has RP, and she has been in advocacy for many years. She didn't let it cripple her or stop her from living a life that she wanted and deserved to have. She still gardens, walks, cooks, cleans, and though her age is more of a problem, than her eyesight, she is still strong, independent and fighting for independence for others who are disabled. I greatly admire her for that. Maybe, that is why I feel strongly for others who are dealing with loss, but who have found the strength, wisdom, and courage to move on and do what they must to be who they truly are inside. Isn't that after all, what really matters?

Dying To Be Dark
I decided today to dye my hair, a mocha ash brown was my palette of choice. While shopping at the store with my sister in law and the family, while they were looking at automotive parts, I was in the hygiene area picking up some things. I passed the hair products, um, I need a change, so I went for color. Three years ago, an ex-friend of mine dyed my hair this funky red, that just looked absolutely horrible on me, so I went for the dark brown. That red still had not completely gone out of my hair, almost three years later. I love it, it put me back to where I was younger and carefree about life and I had many possibilties, not that I don't now. It was a challenge, since putting the hair color on is a chore in itself, and figuring out how long to leave it in and what is next, but I am enjoying my new look and the way I am feeling about me. Now I feel more confident in making the other necessary changes in my life now. I have not bitten my nails in a month, which was a hardship to beat, but hey, I did it. Now, I have nails. Things are a changing and I like it.

Decisions
Decisions have been hard for me to decide on for a long time. Watching Oprah with Sidney Poiter and listening to him talk, has given me some divine wisdom that I have been needing. His book, which I cannot wait to buy and read “The Measure Of A Man”, his spiritual biography, knowing who you are and standing up for you. Takes great courage and discipline that I wish could contain. I’m getting there, slowly and surely, I am getting there. I have been putting off making plans, increasing my future, believing in me, and using the negative doubts that bombard me continually as excuses to stay stagnate in what I am perceiving a hopeless situation. Is it that hopeless, really? Truthfully, taking action, improving yourself, doing the work that is necessary to achieve what I want to achieve is my ultimate goal. It is in the details, that I can find my true happiness and calling in this life of mine. I’ve been feeling hopeless for a long time, but is my situation that hopeless. I do have family and friends that want me to be myself. So, while chatting with my sister Joy, watching Oprah with Mr. Poiter, and then seeing my friends working towards their life strategies. I decided that I must do the same for me. I can’t sit here in the dark mess that I have been in anymore. I am busting myself out. There are things I want, and frankly, I deserve them. After all, I have done what I could and know for long enough. The old has to die and it has be killed off today.
1. I want to lose the 121 pound that I have left. I already lost 115 in 3 years, so I can lose the rest and keep it off.
2. I want to get back into reading and exploring authors. And having a well rounded library of my own.
3. I want to develop my music tastes and discover new musicians and artists. I want a good media collection of my own.
4. I want to go to art museums and discover what it is I can do that is artistic.
5. I want to cultivate the relationships I already have and make new ones.
6. I want to have my own patio garden or ground of my own.
7. I want an expansive wardrobe collection and discover the fabulous woman that I am.
8. I want to have a comfortable, inviting home for myself and guests.
9. I want no clutter or junk that I am using around me at all.
10. I want to go back to school, get my general AA and get a great paying job or start my own business of some sort.
11. I want to get my digital camera back and go on road trips and take fabulous pictures.
12. I want to develop my spiritual side of myself.
13. I want to have balance in my mind, body, and spirit. Taking care of all my needs.
14. I want to spend time with family and friends.

What I Am Thankful For
My sister Vickie who is a strong woman, who is smart and fighter, like me. Who gives me good advice and someone I can talk to about things.
My mom who took me in when she didn’t have to and raised me as one of her children.
My sister Joy who I enjoy talking to about reading, writing, and goals that we both have in common.
My sister Carri who is a good mother to her son and who offers support when she can.
My brother Rob and his entire family for being there when I call or need them.
For Rick and Jessica who have been there, and who I’d like to have a better relationship with.
For Amber who is my oldest friend, who we’ve had the best laughs, the best traveling buddy, who keeps me inspired to be more creative, and believes I am, despite me not thinking so.
For Christina who is blunt like me, who gives me inspiration in the field that I want to be in and gives the best advice.
For Monte who keeps me laughing despite everything and who teaches me things about myself during the dark times.
For my apartment, though it is becoming run down with the new managers, it is still a good apartment.
For the pretty flowers and trees that I can see from my balcony and that I have planted myself.
For the freedoms I do have, being free from oppression of any sort, through religion, government, or even myself oppression.
For having my own mind, to think, believe, or learn whatever it is I want to.
For my computer, that keeps me informed, and in touch with loved ones.
For music, with the different types that are out there, different bands, lyrics, and insights.
For the books and authors that are out there, who express themselves eloquently with words and I can see the different perspectives that are out there.
For the freedom that I have now and didn’t realize that I had.
For being able to be my own manager of my own life and not have anyone to take from me, unless I let them.

Southland
Southland a book written by Nina Revoyr is a mystery book that spans many generations. Jackie Ishida a law student goes to her aunts house after her grandfather passes away and discovers her grandfather for the first time. She finds out why he kept $38,000 dollars in the closet and an old will that leaves that money to Curtis. She soon discovers that Curtis and two other boys were murdered in her grandfathers store, which explains why her grandfather sold the store and moved their family. This book takes you on a journey through 1965 during the riots in LA and then in 1994 where Jackie is discovering her heritage, herself, and her family. I recommend this book to anyone who loves history and mystery.
