Decisions

Decisions have been hard for me to decide on for a long time. Watching Oprah with Sidney Poiter and listening to him talk, has given me some divine wisdom that I have been needing. His book, which I cannot wait to buy and read “The Measure Of A Man”, his spiritual biography, knowing who you are and standing up for you. Takes great courage and discipline that I wish could contain. I’m getting there, slowly and surely, I am getting there. I have been putting off making plans, increasing my future, believing in me, and using the negative doubts that bombard me continually as excuses to stay stagnate in what I am perceiving a hopeless situation. Is it that hopeless, really? Truthfully, taking action, improving yourself, doing the work that is necessary to achieve what I want to achieve is my ultimate goal. It is in the details, that I can find my true happiness and calling in this life of mine. I’ve been feeling hopeless for a long time, but is my situation that hopeless. I do have family and friends that want me to be myself. So, while chatting with my sister Joy, watching Oprah with Mr. Poiter, and then seeing my friends working towards their life strategies. I decided that I must do the same for me. I can’t sit here in the dark mess that I have been in anymore. I am busting myself out. There are things I want, and frankly, I deserve them. After all, I have done what I could and know for long enough. The old has to die and it has be killed off today.

1. I want to lose the 121 pound that I have left. I already lost 115 in 3 years, so I can lose the rest and keep it off.

2. I want to get back into reading and exploring authors. And having a well rounded library of my own.

3. I want to develop my music tastes and discover new musicians and artists. I want a good media collection of my own.

4. I want to go to art museums and discover what it is I can do that is artistic.

5. I want to cultivate the relationships I already have and make new ones.

6. I want to have my own patio garden or ground of my own.

7. I want an expansive wardrobe collection and discover the fabulous woman that I am.

8. I want to have a comfortable, inviting home for myself and guests.

9. I want no clutter or junk that I am using around me at all.

10. I want to go back to school, get my general AA and get a great paying job or start my own business of some sort.

11. I want to get my digital camera back and go on road trips and take fabulous pictures.

12. I want to develop my spiritual side of myself.
13. I want to have balance in my mind, body, and spirit. Taking care of all my needs.

14. I want to spend time with family and friends.

15. I want to have my own movie collection.

16. I want to have financial security and responsibility.

Well, that is about it. Come to think of it, some of it I am already on the road to doing.

What I Am Thankful For

My sister Vickie who is a strong woman, who is smart and fighter, like me. Who gives me good advice and someone I can talk to about things.

My mom who took me in when she didn’t have to and raised me as one of her children.

My sister Joy who I enjoy talking to about reading, writing, and goals that we both have in common.

My sister Carri who is a good mother to her son and who offers support when she can.

My brother Rob and his entire family for being there when I call or need them.

For Rick and Jessica who have been there, and who I’d like to have a better relationship with.

For Amber who is my oldest friend, who we’ve had the best laughs, the best traveling buddy, who keeps me inspired to be more creative, and believes I am, despite me not thinking so.

For Christina who is blunt like me, who gives me inspiration in the field that I want to be in and gives the best advice.

For Monte who keeps me laughing despite everything and who teaches me things about myself during the dark times.

For my apartment, though it is becoming run down with the new managers, it is still a good apartment.

For the pretty flowers and trees that I can see from my balcony and that I have planted myself.

For the freedoms I do have, being free from oppression of any sort, through religion, government, or even myself oppression.

For having my own mind, to think, believe, or learn whatever it is I want to.

For my computer, that keeps me informed, and in touch with loved ones.

For music, with the different types that are out there, different bands, lyrics, and insights.

For the books and authors that are out there, who express themselves eloquently with words and I can see the different perspectives that are out there.

For the freedom that I have now and didn’t realize that I had.

For being able to be my own manager of my own life and not have anyone to take from me, unless I let them.

I"m A Realist

You Are a Realist

You don't see the glass as half empty or half full. You see what's exactly in the glass.

You never try to make a bad situation seem better than it is...

But you also never sabotage any good things you have going on.

You are brutally honest in your assessments of situations - and this always seems to help you cope.

Southland

Southland a book written by Nina Revoyr is a mystery book that spans many generations. Jackie Ishida a law student goes to her aunts house after her grandfather passes away and discovers her grandfather for the first time. She finds out why he kept $38,000 dollars in the closet and an old will that leaves that money to Curtis. She soon discovers that Curtis and two other boys were murdered in her grandfathers store, which explains why her grandfather sold the store and moved their family. This book takes you on a journey through 1965 during the riots in LA and then in 1994 where Jackie is discovering her heritage, herself, and her family. I recommend this book to anyone who loves history and mystery.

Thirteen Musicians and Lyrics. YOUR NAME

1…. Solitude By Evanescence

How many times have I done this to myself
How long will it take before I see
When will this hole in my heart be mended
Who now is left alone but me

Ooh, Solitude,
Forever me and forever you
Ooh, Solitude,
Only you, only true

2. Little Earthquakes By Tori Amos
We danced in graveyards with vampires till dawn
We laughed in the faces of kings never afraid to burn
And I hate
And I hate
And I hate
And I hate disintegration
Watching us wither
Black winged roses that safely changed their color

Oh these little earthquakes
Here we go again
Oh these little earthquakes
Doesnt take much to rip us into pieces

I cant reach you
I cant reach you

Give me life, give me pain
Give me myself again

Oh these little earthquakes
Here we go again
Oh these little earthquakes
Doesnt take much to rip us into pieces
Doesnt take much to rip us into pieces

3. Love Alive by Heart
The sky was dark this morning
When I raised my head
I stood at the window -
Darkness was my bane

Suddenly a sunbeam arch
Thrilled me to my weary heart
It was the prettiest thing Id ever seen

I knew I had to keep my love
Keep my love alive
Keep my love - keep my love li

4. Faith, Courage, and Wisdom by India Arie
Inside my head there lives a dream that I want to see in the sun
Behind my eyes there lives a me that Ive been hiding for much too long
cause Ive been, too afraid to let it show
cause Im scared of the judgment that may follow
Always putting off my living for tomorrow
Its time to step out on faith, Ive gotta show my faith
Its been illusive for so long, but freedom is mine today
Ive gotta step out on faith, its time to show my faith
Procrastination had me down but look what I have found, I found

Chorus
Strength, courage, and wisdom
And its been inside of me all along,
Strength, courage, and wisdom
Inside of me

5. I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that youll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....i hope you dance.

6. In The End by Linkin Park
It starts with [one]
One thing, I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind i designed this rhyme to explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, didn't even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everythin inside
And even though I tried
It all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a
memory of a time when i [tried so hard]
Tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesn't even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end it doesn't even matter
One thing, I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind i designed this rhyme to explain in due time
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so [far]
Things arent the way they were before
You wouldnt even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me in the end
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried
It all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a
memory of a time when I [tried so hard]
Tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesnt even matter
I had to fall to lose it all
But in the end it doesnt even matter
I put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
Theres only one thing you should know
I put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
Theres only one thing you should know
I tried so hard and got so far
But in the end, it doesnt even matter
I had to fall to lost it all
But in the end it doesnt even matter

7. Imagine by John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

8. I Am An Illusion by Rob Thomas
Take this confusion
Runnin' round my head
Take back my unkind words
Lay that weight on me instead
I'm the place where everything turns sour
Where you gonna run to now

Wrong step
We got off track
We need someone to help us get back now
Worn thin
Awful state I was in
I believe I was losing me now I'm found
I am found

But I'm not real anymore
I am an illusion

I am the damage
I am the relief
Sometimes I'm people
I never hoped that I would be
If I take in whatever they turn out
What's that gonna make me now
Don't you understand

I'm not real anymore
I am an illusion

Wrong step
We got off track
We need someone to help us get back now
Worn thin
Awful state I was in
I believe they were fooling me
Now I'm down
I am down

But I'm not real anymore
I am an illusion

9. Dream On by Aerosmith

Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dust to dawn
Isnt that the way
Everybodys got their dues in life to pay

I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know its everybodys sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life is in books written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know its true
All the things come back to you

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
(x2)

Dream on, dream on
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on...

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away

10. It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion
There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed
If I just listened to it
Right outside the window

There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were
Drying up forever

I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I cant remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made

But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That its all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
Its so hard to believe but
Its all coming back to me
(its all coming back, its all coming back to me now)

There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things Id never do again
But then theyd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow
Baby baby

If I kiss you like this
And if you whisper like that
It was lost long ago
But its all coming back to me
If you want me like this
And if you need me like that
It was dead long ago
But its all coming back to me
Its so hard to resist
And its all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But its all coming back to me now
But its all coming back

There were those empty threats and hollow lies
And whenever you tried to hurt me
I just hurt you even worse
And so much deeper

There were hours that just went on for days
When alone at last wed count up all the chances
That were lost to us forever

But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then

But if I touch you like this
And if you kiss me like that
It was so long ago
But its all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind
But its all coming back to me
(its all coming back, its all coming back to me now)

There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things wed never do again
But then theyd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow
Baby, baby, baby

When you touch me like this
And when you hold me like that
It was gone with the wind
But its all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But its all coming back to me now

If you forgive me all this
If I forgive you all that
We forgive and forget
And its all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
We see just what we want to see
Al coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall but its all coming back to me now

11. Landslide by Stevie Nicks
I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life

Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
Im getting older too
Well...

Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
Im getting older, too
Well Im getting older too

So, take this love and take it down
Year and if you climb a mountain and ya turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well the landslide brought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well maybe
Well maybe
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down

12. Precious Time by Pat Benetar

I dont want to argue about who is the victim
Cause maybe we both got burned
I dont want to talk about who is the traitor
Cause both of our loyalties turned
I dont want to fight about who is the liar
Cause theres too many ways to lie
I dont want to hear about who is the winner
Cause we both know its a tie
Cut it out, drop it, count me out - baby stop it
Life is too short, so why waste precious time
Life is too short, so why waste precious time

You were on a liquid diet, you were sure you had to try it
And you lost all your pounds
The doctors on vacation, so you took the medication
And wound up in lost and found
So we took a trip to paris
Cause you swore that it would scare us out of our swift decline
All that I remember `bout those days in that september
Is the merci and the wine

Cut it out, drop it, count me out - baby stop it
Life is too short, so why waste precious time
Life is too short, so why waste
Precious time, precious time, precious time
Oh, precious time
Life is too short, so why waste precious time

You talk on the telephone, long distance to new york or rome
Some would say you got it made
Your home is like a fortress, no one comes in but the florist
The gardner, and the maid
You call me on the telephone, you say you feel so alone
Too tired to get dressed and get out
First youre happy, then youre sad
Somehow you always hang up mad
Excuse me if I shout

Cut it out, drop it, count me out - baby stop it
Life is too short, so why waste precious time
Life is too short, so why waste precious time
Life is too short, so why waste precious time
Precious time, precious time, oh precious time
Life is too short, so why waste precious time

13. Enough Crying by Mary J. Blige

Cause Um
The Sex Was Good
You Had My Mind
And I
I Let You
Come Back
Every Time
You Would
Violate
And Cross
The Line
And You
Knew That I
Would Be
The Type
To Always
Wait So Patiently
Thinkin'
You Was Comin'
Home To Me
Well
Damn, I Never Heard
The Keys
Or
Felt Ya Taps
Sayin' Are
You Sleep

Rewind That!

Cause Um
The Sex Was Good
You Had My Mind
And I
I Let You
Come Back
Every Time
You Would
Violate
And Cross
The Line
And You
Knew That I
Would Be
The Type
To Always
Wait So Patiently
Thinkin'
You Was Comin'
Home To Me
Well
Damn, I Never Heard
The Keys
Or
Felt Ya Taps
Sayin' Are
You Sleep

[chorus:]
Don't Wanna
Play House
No More
So Dumb
To Think
You Gon'
Marry Me
I Got To Be Out
My Mind
To Think I
Need Someone
To Carry Me
I've Done Enough
Cryin', Cryin', Cryin'
(cryin', Cryin', Cryin')
It's Time To Say
Bye, Bye, Bye
It's Time I
Do Something
For Me

[2nd Verse:]
It's Time
I Choose
My Clothes
Choose My Friends
Be With My Family
They Been Asking
Girlfriend
Where You Been?
We Ain't Seen
You In Weeks
Been Chasin'
This Fool Around
Thinkin' He Gon'
Hold Me Down
I Would
Follow His Lead
Thinkin' I Would
Be The One
He Keep Around
What I Needed
Not Ya Finance
And All That
I Needed
Real Commitment
I Really Couldn't See It
Not The Real Man
You Said You Would Be
In This Relationship
So Many Men
Think All
A Girl Needs
Is To Be Sold
A Dream
But I Won't
Fall For It

[repeat Chorus 1x]

[bridge:]
Don't Wanna
Play House No More
You Treat Me Wrong
Tired Of You
Playin' Me
I Been Lookin'
At The Front Door
This Ain't Yours
So Let Me Do Me
Don't Wanna
Play House No More
No More
Tired Of You
Playin' Me
I've Done Enough
Cryin', Cryin', Cryin'
It's Time
I Do
Something For Me

[brook's Rap:]
You Turned Ya Back
And Back
I Came Runnin'
But The Simple
Fact Is
That You
Ain't Want Me
I Done Enough
Lyin' And Cryin'
To Myself
Nothin' Left
To Do But Move
What Else
Can I Do But Leave?
I Believed That You Would Marry Me
But Now I Gotta Breeze
I Be's With Lt
When You Come
To Ya Senses
But Then
It's Too Late
That's Always
How It Be
Catch Me
With The B's
On The Wheels
Giuseppe On The Heels
Shoulda Marc Jacob
Fe Fe Bag Me
When You Had Me
Next Dude
Will Gladly
Pick Up
Where You Left Off
Ice Me
Wife Me
You Ain't Gon'
Have Me

[mary]
Cryin', Cryin', Cryin'
(cryin', Cryin', Cryin')
It's Time To Say
Bye, Bye, Bye
It's Time I
Do Something
For Me

Worry

Your Worry Factor is 33%

You worry a little, but you usually don't go overboard.

You know it's good to recognize your fears, as long as you let go of them.

So whenever you start to worry too much, just take a deep breath and relax.

You're not the worrying kind - and there's no reason to start.

Inner Gardening

Diane Dreher takes a look at cultivating your soul, along with the dirt in her book “Inner Gardening”. She intermingles the different seasons, along side the seasons of our lives with thought provoking candor and deeply thought out questions for you. It gives you a challenge to analyze yourself along with the dirt you are sinking your hands into. I don’t have a plot of my own to put my garden tools into and produce my dream garden, I can still appreciate her passion, she exclaims with joy over her found treasures in her garden. She talks about her trials, tribulations, and appreciation for everything living in her garden, even the slugs she despises. She inspired me to make my own patio garden, the one I have been mulling and dreaming about since I moved here to Vancouver over a year ago. I got my list of plants that I want to plant, and I have it laid out in my mind what I want it to look like. I am finding the sacred in what I do have and what I can do with what I have. Dreher pushes through her resistance with grace, dignity, and honesty and that is the motto of her book. Even if you don’t like getting your hands dirty in soil or care about how things grow and in what season, you will surely learn about your own growth with this book.

Quotes For Today

These are some of the quotes that I have encountered in my reading and I have found some keen knowledge in them. They speak to me.

“There are no rules here. We’re just trying to accomplish something” Thomas Edison

“Truth is often uncomfortable. It is only comforting to those who do not wish to ignore it. Then, truth becomes not only comforting, but inspiring.” Neale David Walsch

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off” Werner Erhard

“You must speak straight so that your words go as sunlight into our hearts.” Cochise, Chiricahua Chief

“Most of us are so busy running around creating the soap opera and drama we call our lives that we don’t hear anything.” Louise Hay

“Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens” Jimi Hendrix

“If you are going through hell, keep going” Winston Churchill

“If you don’t have must going wrong in your life, then you don’t have much going on in your life” Larry Winget

“Knowledge is not power. It is the implementation of knowledge that is power.” Larry Winget

“All great truth begins as blasphemy.” George Bernard Shaw

“”In order to make positives about your life, you first have to get negative about your life.” Larry Winget

Skeptical

You Are Fairly Skeptical

You're not the type of person who will fall for anything...

But you do keep your mind open to all sorts of possibilities.

You figure that anything could be true. After all, the world is a strange place.

However, you're going to need some convincing before you can believe in aliens or reincarnation!

The Truth Will Set Me Free

What do you do when someone that doesn’t know you slanders you, saying malicious lies about your family and you, just for a few dollars. That is what I am going through right now, my mind is reeling, I can’t sleep tonight. I have an appointment with my lawyer, still the anxious feelings stay. I am angry, I am resentful, mostly, I am feeling extremely overwhelmed by these people who are his family, but weren’t apart of his life, at least his later years. I loved, took care, supported, waited hand and foot for this man for 10 years of my life. He and I had some great times and sometimes I do miss him. The last three years have been obstacles of learning new things and discovering things about myself. I have never been so slandered, ripped apart by anyone in my entire life, especially, by people who do not know me. One in particular person I never met in my life, but claims we have. Greed brings out monsters in people, I am learning that. I haven’t changed, I was willing to share, still am. Receiving those papers, with those words of lies and statements that were so ludicrous that it made me laugh hard, like I was 17 in 1996 and some other idiotic things, but it is that paper with those written words that has brought me to this frame of mind. I am worth fighting for. I am not going to lay down and let someone lie, beat me up verbally, and insult the people that I love and call them liars. I am not going to at the same time reduce myself to the verbal abuse that they are slapping me in the face with. I will be honest, direct, to the point, and blunt as hell towards these two individuals. The truth hurts worse than lies. And I guarantee that this time, no amount, of verbal abuse these women lay on me is going to make me crawl at their feet and retreat, like I did before, when the one accosted me at the funeral home. I’m not grieving, upset, and in any mood to put up with her bullshit. I’m done. I’m not going to let her destroy me, or the person that you claim to love, just so you can have some money. That is not right. I feel sorry for, and deep in my heart, I hope that the two of them find happiness and love in their lives. They are not happy, and it is evident, because of the things they are saying and doing. The truth will set me free.

Underneath It All

The Part of You That No One Sees

You are powerful, passionate, and dominant.

You have a vision of how things should be, and you do your best to make things happen.

People rely on you for your strength. You are a rock to many.

Underneath it all, you aren't so sure about your passions.

So many ideas spark your interest, it is hard for you to get behind a select few.

However, you see indecision as a sign of weakness. So you pursue your goals full force - no matter how foolish they turn out to be.

My Dosha

Your Dosha is Kapha

Calm and grounded, you are not prone to mood swings or anger.

However, once you do get angry, it takes a lot to cool you down.

You tend to think a little slower than most people, but your logic is astounding.

Overall, you very loyal and trustworthy. You're not scared of being who you really are.

With friends: You enjoy their company, but often listen more than talk

In love: You crave connection and affection. It's hard for you to be single.

To achieve more balance: Exercise vigorously (especially in the sun) and let go of attachments.
